When you see life as a movie...

Sometimes I try to live my life through movies, it's not always the best plan.

Since I'm already obsessed with television and film, I figured why not explore some of the amazing places that appear in films while I travel and see if they actually compare to the real thing.

First things first, all my friends told me that I had to do the Cheetah Girls' 2 strut while I was in Barcelona, well turns out...that's not exactly easy to do.

The Cheetah Girls 2, Kenny Ortega (2006)

So they start off in Born...but THEN they're at the National Palace, with a quick pop out at the stairs of Park Guell, back in front of the fountain at National Palace to to finish it off, they're in somewhere back in the Gothic area near La Rambla.

On our first walking tour we were shown Plaza Neri, and after that day it has been impossible for me to get back to. I simply turned down every sketchy corner in the gothic hoping to find it, and once I had given it up just appeared....like the Narnia door.

My Immortal , Evanescence (2009)

Sant Felip Neri Today

In memory of the victims of the bombardment of Sant Felip Neri.

Here died 42 people – the majority children – due to the actions of Franco’s airforce on the 30th of January 1938.

Honorable mentions:

Woody Allen made his love for Barcelona known with a an entire film dedicated to it, and the beginnging scene is every tourist dream...La Sagrada Familia.

Vicki Christina Barcelona, Woody Allen (2008)

Though set in Paris, most of the scenes were shot in the Gothic Quarter.

Perfume: The story of a muderer (2006)

Just for fun.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, JK Rowilings (2009)

Me at the Cliffs of Moher

While there are endless amounts of movies set in New York, California, Londan etc, movies over the past few years have ignited filmakers outside of Spain into choosing Barcelona as their filming destination. For me, this is something really special to get to see on my travels because how a movie is depicted on screen, may not always be the case as we have seen today.
