The Greatest Showman: The Greatest Musical

About a week ago *insert shmoney dance,* I watched The Greatest Showman in theaters and today I am still listening to the greatest soundtrack.
I should probably preface my enjoyment of the film by saying, I am not a fan of musicals by any means. They played the trailer for Mamma Mia 2 before the film and my eyes rolled so far in the back of my head, they almost got stuck.
I wasn’t entirely prepared for how much singing the movie would have. I mean usually when someone bursts into song on a sandy beach, I am forced to question the authenticity. However, this all being said: BEST.MOVIE.EVER.
Not just because of the cast.
ALTHOUGH, kudos to Hugh Jackman. Wolverine who? Because P.T. Barnum came to shine. And since we’re speaking on the cast, let’s talk about Zac Efron and Zendaya.
They were just downright magical. Hard to believe this is the same Zac Efron that Bet On It across a country club golf course in my youth. In just about all of his scenes, I was choking on my own tears (or maybe it was just a nacho).
Zendaya was beautiful, phenomenal and talented as always. She may be younger than me, but she’s still my role model.
I don’t have anything negative to say about any of the cast actually, and I have shocked myself with this very statement because I ALWAYS have a problem with someone. But this time, no dice.
Still the BEST. MOVIE. EVER.
Not just because of the music.
ALTHOUGH, this is the only new music I currently listen to. Every time I think I should try to move on, I am right back to loving myself with This is Me.
I will admit, when This is Me won best song over Home by Nick Jonas at the Golden Globes...I was little bitter. BUT that was before I had listened to, watched, and experienced the power behind the song. I am who I am damn it!
If you’ve watched the film, then you know that Rewrite the Stars was probably one of the most emotionally charged songs. And you know that this is what I looked like during the scene:
The entire freaking soundtrack is a stand out, but I'll talk for just a moment—a brief fleeting moment on how magnificent Never Enough is. I feel pain. I feel hurt. I feel like nothing and no one will ever be ENOUGH for me. NEVER NEVER. Big shout out to Loren Allred, the voice behind the actress. HUNTY, you are a STAR.
With that being said, I love every other song, listen to every other song on a daily basis and this is the BEST. MOVIE. EVER.
BECAUSE I left the theater feeling happy.
I was so excited after the film, I felt something in the pit of my gut that was recognizable yet I realized I hadn’t felt that feeling in such a long time, it surprisingly turned out to be happiness ( I realize how dramatic this is.)
I had been sick for like three weeks (DAMN YOU FLU SEASON.) It ruined my holidays and my vacation and on top of that I had to come back to Seattle. The same Seattle, where I am alone in a cold, dark and rainy place. I was just sad.
And although movies have made me feel better in the past, either from laughter or a good cry—I don’t think pure joy had ever been on the table before, and that’s what I got from The Greatest Showman.
So, the girl who was not a fan of musicals became a huge fan of a musical.
Best. Movie. Ever.
