Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3: The Battle of Winterfell

I'm not exactly sure where to begin, so let's start with the fact that the majority of all of our favs are still breathing because that is a blessing! Not nearly as many people died as I thought, not saying they won't die in the very near future, but as of now they're safe and that's all that matters.

Everyone played a role, some MUCH more significant than others. I’ve taken the liberty of highlighting some real stars and some real ass failures in the Battle of Winterfell.

Our first star is Grey Worm!! He held shit down, sacrificed his men for these white people as they retreated and still managed to stay alive himself. SO UNEXPECTED! I’m thankful he and Messandei still have a chance at possibly escaping.

The first fail goes to...Bran. Granted he can’t do MUCH and he surely did…. not a damn thing. The reason he’s on the losing team this episode is because WHAT IS HIS PURPOSE! Yeah, he’s the three-eyed raven but really he’s not that damn helpful. He said he didn’t know if they would defeat the Night King and yet he handed Arya the weapon to do so. I’m just confused and frankly annoyed that his response to everything is “the past is the past, no hard feelings.

Moving back to our heroes, I want to give props to Lord Beric. The Hound was DONE when Beric got to him. He was over the dead and I would have been too, but he lived out his purpose so our sheroe could live out hers. The man got stabbed at least 1400 times and still managed to run away, we’ll never forget him.

Sliding back to the team L’s. Sam. Sam Tarly. WHAT WAS HE DOING!!? Not a damn thing is the answer. Absolutely absurd. He was not prepared and how he’s still alive, I will never know. As Sansa said, knowing your place is part of doing your job. Sam, however, did neither. I love Sam. But, not his finest moment.

Speaking of finest moments, who even knew "the red woman," Melisandre was still alive let alone here to save the day and shine some light! She lit the trench and lit a spark under Arya’s ass. Thank you.

The Night King waited a LONG time to bring winter only to take probably the biggest L of them all. So close, yet so far. BUT still we stan a petty king.

The saddest death of all was Lady Mormont. I do miss her the most, it cut deep and yet I am so proud. SHE TOOK DOWN A GIANT. I just love her and she was out here doing what no one else could—a true leader and champion.

Now, let’s just continue on with our House of Mormont heroes because what did Jorah do? THAT! He did the best he could with what he had and it outshines everyone else’s best by a mile. He always came through when Dany needed him the most and his last moments were no exception. Jorah was a true

warrior on the battlefield.

Daenerys, on the other hand, was quite the mess. The first time I actually thought she was dumb was this episode. First of all, if you’re riding a dragon, STAY YOUR ASS IN THE SKY! Why did she have to land around an army of zombies? I need answers! I will not be one of those people that says she didn’t do shit, because she did her best! Her best was just not that great.

Now Theon’s best? Was more than great! Actually, it was quite unbelievable and a bit unrealistic in fact. I personally have been the hardest on Theon’s character. But, in his final moments, I was rooting for the guy and I am happy that he found redemption. “You’re a good man.”

Our last big failure of the night goes to Jon Snow. I have absolutely no problem shaming my favorite for doing a piss poor job on every single task. Jon stays getting fucked up, I SWEAR! You know, I’m actually starting to think this man wants to die. I knew he and Daenerys formed the ultimate dumb and dumber duo when they headbutted dragons. Just useless. He didn’t light the trench, he didn’t kill the motherfucking dragon breathing motherfucking blue flames and he certainly did not kill the Night King. So, I’m just struggling to figure out exactly what he DID do because it wasn’t his job.

FINALLY! The person we all care about. The moment that had me screaming “YAS BITCH, YAS BITCH, YAS BITCHHHHH” at the top of my lungs. The true MVP and rightful heir to the iron throne, Arya Motherfucking Stark. OKAY! Where to begin? My Queen is STEALTH and I love her! That whole library scene had me crying, I get shivers thinking about it. When she came face to face with Melisandre I honestly thought she would kill her, because she’s not one to forgive easily, especially once you make it on her list. But NOT TODAY! Everything she’s been through has brought her here for a reason.

That reason being, TO SLAY THE NIGHT KING! Such an incredible moment in TV history, I’m still in awe and I stan. After this glorious moment, I will still be SO satisfied if she’s the one to take out Cersei. In fact, why do we even need anyone else in this show?

Honorable Battle of Winterfell Mentions:

The Dothraki

Sir Brienne and Jaime

Drogon & Rhaegal

Final Thoughts:

That was some strong prolonged eye contact between Sansa and Tyrion, it’s the only reason I’m tuning in next week.
