Game of Thrones: Season 7, episode 5—Bend the Knee

Welcome back to a Lannister-dust covered Westeros (can you believe there’s only 2 more episodes this season?)

Jamie manages to evade death, after attacking a dragon head on. What a guy. But the rest of the Lannisters, they’re fucked.
Daenerys stands before the survivors like the queen she is, and gives them the most reasonable of choices—bend the knee, or get fried.
She’s on the brink of mad, but I am not mad at her. In my opinion, she has got to chill with the bend the knee, only because she is NOT the rightful heir. But I am getting ahead of myself here.
SN: “Bend the knee” is now one of my favorite GoT catchphrases, only second to ‘Winter is coming’ but of course. So, get your drinking games ready, she’s not finished saying it, not for a longshot.
Backing up —Sam’s dad and Dickon (haha) refuse to knee bend. Therefore, the Mother of Dragons refuses to go back on her word. I am only sad because that’s Sam’s family (not that they were too good to him anyway).
However, Daenerys is not in the position to back down or show weakness of any kind. If this was a man standing up there, this wouldn’t even be up for debate. THIS IS WAR.
So, she does what she has to do and rapidly returns to Dragonstone.
Wow, let’s just take a moment to acknowledge the way Jon Snow wears that fur cape, no other can do it so well.
He has a face to face with one of the dragons and it’s almost as beautiful as a Stark reunion (but I guess a Targaryen reunion in a way).
Before I die, I just want to see Jon ride.
The moment was sadly cut short by Jorah’s return. But I’m going to skip over this part because I’m not really a fan of Jorah Mormont and he’s just weird.
Back to Jon —finally the moment has come when he receives news Bran and Arya have returned to Winterfell (because apparently, birds delivering critical messages don’t’ arrive as fast as a dragon & army going to set people ablaze).
And then, Jon Snow decides that the King of the North will return to the north. BUT not to see his siblings (COUSINS!) like he should do! No, he’s going beyond the wall. WHAT
I’m sorry, but if you’re coming from the south to the far north, simple geography tells me that you literally passed Winterfell, did not collect $200, and knowingly decided to enter into uncertain death.
COME ONNNNNNN!
Jon Snow—Former Commander of the Night’s Watch, Riser from Death, Bastard of Bastards, King of the North, The ONE True King of the Seven Kingdoms, you need to chill.
I don’t ask for much but Stark reunions and dragon rides and Jon Snow is making that very difficult.
As we return to Winterfell (something Jon forgets how to do), tensions are rising amongst the Lady Starks. No surprises here, I am #teamArya. She speaks nothing but the truth and rides for Jon just as I do. Let’s all just listen to Arya.
I mean if Sansa needs a hand to the Lady, it OBVIOUSLY needs to be Arya. I am quite intrigued by this LittleFinger/Arya showdown (AKA LittleFinger is gross and I want Arya to end him.)
Speaking of gross, back in the Landing, issa Lannister reunion—less exciting than the Starks, but dramatic none-the-less.
Jamie still can’t forgive Tyrion.
CERSEI IS PREGNANT!?? ahhhhh and ewwwwww. Haven’t they learned their lesson three dead inbreeds later? Also, when she tells Jamie and he goes “who’s the father?” ‘Twas the highlight of the show.
Who else was Jamie thinking!? Euron? The Mountain? Creepy old doctor/inventor hand to the queen man? Give your lover/sister some credit, jeez.
And Tyrion, is just doing his best to save lives, mostly failing, but still trying.
But the best part of the King's Landing scenes was not with a Lannister, oh no. As I live and breathe—IT’S GENDRY!! The one person I ask about every episode since he sailed into the unknown in season 3. He did not come to play and it was amazing. He’s going to be a good ally to Jon and I sense a reunion with another Stark is also imminent.
Final Thoughts:
If you didn’t already catch on, we’re talking ANNULMENT!! Did Rhaegar actually get an annulment from his wife and re-marry Lyanna Stark, making our favorite bastard—BASTARD NO MORE!? Wow. Just wow.
Finally, how do they expect to actually capture this dead person and drag them back across the wall to the south? Idk ,but should be exciting to watch (as long as Jon and Gendry return to Winterfell).
